Assessment of Oral Hygiene Status and Practices among a Sample of 12-Year-Old Chepang Children of Nepal

Introduction: Hygienic oral health practices are necessary from a young age to ensure positive long-term and general health. The hygiene status among the underprivileged Chepang children of Nepal have not been adequately assessed.
 Objective: To assess 12-year-old Nepal, identify association demographic variables with children.
 Methods: This was descriptive cross-sectional study where pretested questionnaire used simplified index (OHI-S) examine 160 central Nepal. Statistical analysis done SPSS v.17. significance determined using an independent t-test ANOVA test.
 Results: showed that 68 (42.5%) had good hygiene, fair only 24 (15%) poor hygiene. mean OHI-S score for them 1.62±1.09. Most (138, 86.3%) regularly brushed their teeth rinsed mouth after meals (117, 73.1%), but tongue cleaning performed by 36 (22.5%) them.
 Conclusions: intervention programs needed who do go schools stay at hostels.
